Crazy to see the evolution of Facebook’s splashpage. Their elevator pitch was/is a constant work-in-progress, from “Facebook is an online directory that connects people through social networks at colleges” to “Facebook is an online directory that connects people through social networks” (sans “at colleges”). The use cases they list in progressive iterations are interesting too — starting with information, then connection, then communication, then finally media. They began as a “directory,” then started referring to themselves as a “social utility.”
